How to stop putting off job applications
Saving jobs feels like progress. Applying feels like a mountain. The fix is to make each application smaller.
Why it is hard to start
- The application feels too big to finish in one go
- You want it to be perfect
- You are not sure what the next step is
1. Break it into small steps
Read the advert. List the criteria. Pick one example for each. Draft. Check. Send. Each step is small enough to do on its own, so you never face the whole thing at once.
2. Book a regular short session
Pick a slot you can keep, even 15 or 20 minutes. Three short sessions a week will move an application forward. If you have more time, 45 minutes a day works well.
3. Keep a bank of your best examples
Most applications ask for the same skills. Write each example once and reuse it, adjusted for each role.
4. Work to the closing date
Save every role with its closing date and start with the one closing soonest.
5. Decide what good enough looks like
If every criterion has an example and you have checked it once, send it. A sent application beats a perfect one that is still in drafts.
In Submiti: Save to Tracker saves roles straight from job sites, Your plan breaks applications into steps, and the Evidence Bank keeps the examples you already have.
