Most people have done far more than their applications show. They have run shifts, fixed problems, looked after family and led projects. When the blank box is in front of them, they cannot remember it, or they do not have the words for it.

We have seen this from every side. We have written applications, read them and helped others write them, across the NHS, the Civil Service and the private sector. The pattern never changed: capable people missing out because they could not show what they had done.
